About - Dr. Bikash Majumder
Dr. Bikash Majumder is a renowned doctor in Kolkata, treating heart diseases in people for more than two decades. Dr. Majumder is specialized in interventional cardiology and has experience of implementing coronary angiography, angioplasty, pacemaker implementation and more.
Apart from the clinical works, he has contributed considerably in developing educational activities for the doctors. He has established an educational body called ‘Cardiology Masterclass’ for the training and education of the junior doctors and general practitioners. Being one of the decorated faculties of the Public Health Foundation of India, Dr. Majumder is also involved in teaching the community doctors in the field of Cardiology.
Education And Medical Practices
Dr. Bikash Majumder graduated from R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in 1996. Immediately after completing the internship and senior house officer job in Medicine, he pursued his MD (Medicine) from S N Medical College Agra with ‘gold medal’ in the year 2002.
Then, he went to the UK and completed the PLAB examination and started clinical observership in Basildon Hospital and subsequently in St. Bartholomew’s hospital in London. Dr. Majumder started his clinical career in UK at Hull Royal Infirmary in January 2003. Within one and a half year, he completed all the 3 parts of MRCP at a very young age of 31 years.
After completing his medicine posting, Dr. Majumder continued his career as cardiologist and worked in Margate, Kent and Leeds General Infirmary. He then got selected for the structured Cardiology program (CCT) in Cardiff, Wales in 2005. From 2005 to 2008, he worked in the Morriston Hospital, Swansea, Glan Clwyd Hospital, Rhyl and the University hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
Experience
In the early days of his career, Dr. Bikash Majumder gathered experience in general cardiology. At that time, he managed patients with heart attacks, coronary artery disease, pacemaker implantation, coronary angiography and angioplasty and many more to count. It helped him further in his postgraduate research studies.
Dr. Majumder completed his post-graduate research degree (MD Research) from the Royal Free Hospital (University College London) under the supervision of Dr. Roby Rakhit. He was awarded this degree for his original work on ‘Role of Platelet Monocyte Complex and Inflammation in Coronary Artery Disease.’
Dr. Majumder was awarded with prestigious fellowship grant by the ‘European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI)’ in 2009 which enabled him to work in the field of advanced interventional cardiology in Zurich, Switzerland for a year with Prof. Franz Eberli.
Following his successful work and experience in the UK and Switzerland, Dr. Majumder came back to India and joined Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals in Kolkata in the year 2012 and is now considered as one of the most popular heart specialists in Kolkata.
